I burst with happiness sharing this very personal insight into the start of my year in Lake Como, Italy.
I’m pretty sure you can feel my excitement in the photos, bringing in 2015, in one of my favourite places in the world, with my closest friends. We set off to Lago di Como from Bra that morning, where we had spent New Year’s Eve with a group of 20 Italian’s, indulging in a 5 course meal. In typical spur of the moment fashion, the last minute road trip couldn’t have been a better decision. We ate, drank and were way too merry for days, lakeside.
As you now know, I love Lake Como and have been many times. Whilst surprising at first to see the Lake bursting with a similar energy in the middle of winter than it does in the height of Summer, it quickly became obvious – but of course! As we experienced the town looking so beautiful in a frosty fashion I hadn’t imagined, of course the crowds still flock.
My advice? Go to Lake Como at any time of year. Go whenever you can.. just go! xHermione

Experience the Museum and Botanical Garden at Villa Carlotta before lunch at Grand Hotel Tremezzo.
Take the Funicular from the town of Lake Como up to the Comune of Brunate. From Brunate, you will have panoramic views over Lake Como and even over to the Swiss Alps on the horizon. Take the afternoon and have a long lunch at Bella Vista. We ordered one of everything and shared, spent hours drinking red wine and talking as the sun set… La Dolce Vita!
