Before I set off yet again, I had the chance to shoot my first campaign for Mimco. We’re collaborating in 2017 and I have to say I am thrilled to be working with a brand intertwined with my childhood. I vividly remember collecting Mimco purses as a child with my sister and using them to store my most beloved treasures. We shot the latest Poetic Tempest collection on one of my favourite streets in Sydney, the beautiful Underwood Street. Now, speaking of Underwoods…
This Summer was slightly different than most. As you well know, I am fortunate to return home to Sydney often but it’s usually fleeting and it’s normally work, work, work. I race from meeting to meeting and from lunch date to dinner date and it never stops. My Mum hasn’t been well so my siblings and I all flew in on short notice to have Christmas together which made this year only ever so slightly but definitely, a little different. We sub consciously focused more on spending our time together as a family. We went to the beach. We cooked. We sat and talked. We built a ‘pewl’ in the back yard and we rallied around Mum. We were all on our very best behaviour and we really invested in each other. It was heaven. We’ve always been a close family but for whatever reason, it’s not until it happens to you that you realise the importance of one another and what really, really matters. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, it was for me, truly our best Christmas ever. It ended a somewhat disastrous 2016 on a high and welcomed 2017 in perfect circumstances. I am so excited for this New Year and what is has in store for us all. Can’t you just feel that this year is different. Happy New Year. Love, xHermione.
