The people make the place. Built and operated by the Childs family, The Emakoko sits on the side of the Mbagathi River, on the fringe of Nairobi’s National Park. Here, you are welcomed as family. The husband and wife team, Anthony and Emma, hosted me wonderfully and we were instant friends, laughing late into the night.
The only city in the world with a National Park in its centre, The Emakoko offers an impossibly rare and unique experience to do a game drive, and have sundowners, with wild animals, in the centre of Nairobi. As the skyline buzzes with energy and light on the horizon, you sit nestled within the trees, looking at Giraffes as they munch away in clear sight and drinking communally with other guests as wild animals roar around you.
Just 45 minutes from both of Nairobi’s airports, The Emakoko is the perfect pit stop for those transferring in and out of the city, allowing people to start, finish or move between safari’s in the same African environment they came all this way, striving to experience. Thank you Anthony and Emma, I can’t wait to see you both again soon. xHermione.
