Sophie Ashby is the interior designer being talked about in London. We all know that now but three years ago, her business was new and emerging on the scene… It was at this point that the team at Knight Dragon saw her potential and invested in it, bringing Studio Ashby on board to design 126 apartments within Upper Riverside, its latest neighbourhood on Greenwich Peninsula. Ashby was to develop the third building within Upper Riverside, after the esteemed designers Tom Dixon at Building 1 and State of Craft at Building 2.
I discovered Sophie a year ago when I went to her in conversation at Soho House. I had heard rave reviews and was unsurprisingly, hugely inspired by her work ethic, the evolution of her brand and having watched her speak, her humility. When the opportunity was presented to me to speak with Sophie directly and to learn more about her biggest project to date, I jumped.
Studio Ashby focuses on creating a home. With an opposites attract philosophy, Ashby merges opposing finishes and materials and plays with different colours. She works all the way through to finishing touches and takes the path less travelled, engaging with between 300-400 individual suppliers for each job. Ashby is refined, considered, passionate and delightful. She is charming in displaying a seemingly quiet and reserved manner despite being a powerhouse success story.
Living in London over the past few years has been so interesting from an Australian interiors perspective. I’ve watched the lifestyle and interiors world evolve before my eyes. Apartments have become more open planned, modern and luxurious. They’re slowly adapting the indoor / outdoor lifestyle marriage. Upper Riverside at Greenwich Peninsula is an example of this evolution, offering beautifully designed and considered living in an entirely new precinct for London. These homes are perfect for young consumers, perhaps international visitors who like to pop in to town and lock the door to leave and professionals alike, being so close to Canary Wharf and London City airport.
Apartments are available to buy now, off plan. I am so honoured to have had the chance to shoot in the space, bringing you a little insight into the space and Ashby’s considered details and finishes. I hope you love the insight we are able to bring to you. If you are looking for further information don’t hesitate to contact me, further details also below. xHermione.
The pieces Ashby collaboratively collected and designed for this space are available not just to those buying property at Greenwich Peninsula but also to you, here.
