Unmistakably the most recognisable luxury house in the world, HERMÈS has unveiled its move into beauty with the launch of Rouge Hermès, a luxury lipstick collection. Available from March, the lipsticks consider sustainability as refillable objects that contain no plastic. Colours have been selected from the brands archive of 900 leather shades and 75,000 silk swatches, initially offering 24 lipstick shades including the iconic Hermès orange. It is rumoured that further products will be released bi-annually, from September 2020.
To celebrate the launch, I have chosen to highlight the Hermès teams individual perspectives on the unveil, spoken poetically like a lover whispering you sweet nothings….xHermione.
Pierre-Alexis Duman, Artistic Director of Hermès
“I like the idea of Hermès as an intimate companion, revealing one’s deepest self. I associate Hermès’ beauty products with self-fulfilment, with the colour of an individual’s personality.”
Bali Barret, Artistic director of the Hermès women’s universe
“Creating a lipstick like a mood, a flash of wit, and a signature reflecting a woman’s personality without altering it, revealing a woman as naturally beautiful, without make-up. And yet with the gesture of some lipstick.”
Jérôme Touron, Creative director for Hermès Beauty
“I like the relationship a woman cultivates with herself when she applies make-up. Her relationship with time changes instantly, whatever the place or the moment. Like a pause for breath, an instant of self-care, I see this beauty ritual as an essential gesture. Simple, meticulous, everyday and precious. A gesture that is naturally in keeping with Hermès’ idea
of beauty and the art of living.”
