I am so often asked, which is your favourite beach in Sydney? It’s a difficult question to answer because the list is extensive and each beach holds importance to me for different reasons. If I had to answer, it would probably be Balmoral as it feels like home, Tamarama to watch the waves, Kutti for privacy and Palmy for the memories. I’ve been back in London for a mere few weeks and here I am, already dreaming of, and missing, Sydney’s iconic beaches. I’m sure you’re shocked.
I grew up in the sand at Balmoral and lived by the waves in Bondi. I have started my days at 5am, stolen half an hour in my lunch break and spent countless days and weekends, sneaking away to the beach to jump under the waves and waste away the hours in bliss. As you well know, there is something about having the sand in your toes and salt on your skin that your mind and body loves you for.
This list is not just from me, it’s compiled by all my water baby best friends, who are shocked I’ve never been to their beloved Gordon’s Bay! The one beach they asked me not to mention, so they could keep it all to themselves, and here I am going on and on.. I will even include it as the first image, with my apologies Hankin, G, Jackie and Gab 😉
Now, let’s start in the Eastern Suburbs..
And then head to the North Shore…
