When I met the comm’s director of Singita in London’s Notting Hill last year, I felt an enthusiasm and passion in her that was unmatched with any other travel purveyor I had met. She lives and breathes the Singita brand, and that theme was carried through with every employee I met with what eventuated into the #singtainstameet in Tanzania some nine months later. The people most certainly make the place.. and Singita is all the proof you’ll ever need to that fact.
I felt it more at Singita Explore than with any other Singita retreat we visited. With no wifi, Singita Explore offers the over-worked and over-stimulated modern man a real escape.. An escape into an old world, switched off from modern basics and into the wild. Into a ‘wild’ world of actually talking, being in touch with nature, meeting new people from new backgrounds with different histories and with smiles on their faces that maybe convince you life really is magic. Singita doesn’t just employ people, the brand builds an extended family of people who work and bring a grand vision to life.
The most memorable moment of our days in the wild, camping, were upon our return from an evening game drive. As the sun set, we were ushered into the plains by our camp, where we were greeted by the local community in traditional dress, dancing and singing for us, in an unexpected celebration. The life and soul of Africa was around us as we joined them, moving our hands and feet to the sound of the locals music. What an exceptional moment, one I will never forget.. xHermione.
for the more adventurous, looking to unwind, switch off and escape the world.
Thank you to Singita for hosting me in Tanzania. As always, opinions are my own.
